Introduction: The European Commission is one of the most important development donors in the world. European Commission programmes are a potential source of funding for NGOs in all the regions. This course will give orientation to the organizations on how to align themselves to get EU funding and what are “things to do” before applying for EU funding. This course will allow participants to learn the financial instruments and amounts available in their respective regions and thematic areas.
This course will also be a source to know about open calls for proposals in the participants’ geographical and thematic area.

- Access to EU funding
- EU funding sources and accessing EU funding
- Finding the right partner
- Developing consortium
- Amounts available (2014-20)
- Orientation about Open calls for proposals (selective)
Objectives of the Training: The objectives of the training are to familiarize the potential, current or past recipients of EU funds about the followings:
- The structure of EU and its directorates
- Funding opportunities available till 2020
- How to assess your qualification for any “Call for proposal”
- Procedures and processes for application
- Guidelines of EU related to transparency, accountability and grant management
Based on participants’ countries, the contents will be contextualized that will focus on country specific strategies of EU.
Training Methodology: The trainer will adopt a participatory training methodology, including skills-based learning sessions, short/mini-lectures (based on PowerPoint presentations), trainer-participants discussions, demonstrations and group and/or individual exercises with simulations.
